Amid rising corona cases in Delhi, the Kejriwal government has suffered a major setback. The central government has taken away almost all the powers of the common man government. Now there will be a lieutenant governor’s government in the capital. The Central Government has implemented the Capital Territory Government (Amendment) Act 2021. The Arvind government will have to depend on the lieutenant governor for every decision. As per the notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, the provisions of the Act have come into force from April 27. Government means now lieutenant governor.
According to the new law implemented in the capital, the government will mean the lieutenant governor. Now the Delhi government has to get approval from LG before taking any tenure decision. A notification has been issued in the Home Ministry with the signature of Additional Secretary Govind Mohan. In which it is stated that in Delhi, using the powers vested in sub-section-2 of section one of the Territorial Governance (Amendment) Act 2021, the Center implements the provisions of the Act from 27 April 2021.
The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on March 22. It was also passed in the Rajya Sabha on March 24 and passed. The Bill proposes that the Lieutenant Governor may necessarily be given the opportunity to exercise the power delegated under Section 4 of Article 239A in the selected category of cases. Explain that according to the new amendment, the legislative proposal to LG was submitted to the government 15 days ago while the administrative proposal was opposed by at least seven Kejriwal government. The passage of this law was opposed by the Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi government. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had described it as a sad day for Indian democracy.
