Hockey umpire Suresh Kumar has died due to corona infection. He had been living in Mohali with his family for some years and has breathed his last in a house built here. Hockey India has expressed grief over Suresh’s departure.
Suresh, 51, has officiated in a number of international competitions, including four national tournaments in Hamburg, Germany. He served as the umpire in the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament. He had worked as a match officer in the Hockey India League in 2013-14. Hockey India chief Gyanendra Ningobam has said that the late Suresh was an international level umpire and he will always be remembered.
