Meanwhile, the school bus drivers staged a protest against the Punjab government and handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Barnala in front of the DC office. Officials of the School Transport Association Barnala protested that the drivers and conductors working on school buses were sitting idle during the epidemic. They have no other source of income. Due to which they are facing huge difficulties. “We have taken loans from banks and taken buses. If the government closes the schools, they will be unable to repay the loans of the banks,” he said.
He demanded that the Insurance paid during the 10 month shutdown last year could not be of any use, so the Insurance of school vehicles for the year 2021 should be waived, passing of school vehicles and road tax for the current year 2021 should be waived. However, any fines incurred on school vehicles in the past should be waived.
