In the midst of the ongoing debate over the cancellation of examinations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with the Education Minister, in which this decision has been taken.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Education Secretary, and several top officials for a meeting on the issue of examinations. After the meeting, a statement was issued saying that the Central Government has canceled the CBSE Class 10 examination in the wake of growing cases of the covid-19 epidemic across the country while deciding to postpone the examination of the 12th.

The Ministry of Education has said that after this decision, it will review the situation again on June 1. The ministry has said that the board will create a criterion system to get the results of Class 10 children and the examinations of class 12 will be taken later. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal tweeted that in the meeting, PM Modi said that the safety of children is the priority of the government, so this decision has been taken.

Actually, the class 10 and 12 examinations were starting on May 4, 2021, in the country, but in view of the unprecedented rapid increase of Corona and the case of record-breaking infections coming daily, the exams were being sought to be canceled or postponed. Now this year, the Board of Class 10 examinations have been canceled. At the same time, the exams for the 12th have been postponed. The 12th exams were scheduled to be held between June 4 and June 14.

CBSE announced the dates in February. At that time, the total number of cases of infection of covid was coming down to less than 15,000, due to which the situation was looking better than before, but in the last few weeks, the situation has become dreadful, and now Corona cases in the country are more than one and a half million.

In view of Corona, many Delhi Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were demanding cancellation of the examinations.
