The holy pilgrimage of Shri Hemkund Sahib starting from May 10 this year has been postponed in view of the increasing outbreak of Corona epidemic. Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust has informed that the number of corona infection patients in the country and Uttarakhand has suddenly increased. In view of this, the journey has been postponed. New travel dates will be announced by the trust as soon as the situation improves.
Trust chief Narinderjit Singh Bindra said that apart from the pandemic, the situation has also been deteriorated due to glacier eruptions and bad weather in the state. With this in mind, this decision has been taken.
Glacier cracked in Chamoli district
Glacier eruption in Chamauli district has caused severe damage to roads in many areas, which has made the condition serious. Also, the weather has become extremely bad due to continuous rain and snowfall for the last few days. He said that Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib is still snowing and the temperature has dropped significantly.
The trip lasted a month last year
Last year, the trip lasted only for one month due to more snow and later covid. Located in Chamauli district of Uttarakhand, this Guru Ghar is at an altitude of 15 thousand 200 feet. Here Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji had done penance in his previous birth. Every year millions of devotees go to this sacred place near the peaks of the Himalayas to pay their respects. PTI
