Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has been found infected with the coronavirus. He has been admitted to a private hospital. Hospital sources said the union chief has been kept in the Corona ward and his health remains stable. The team of doctors is monitoring his health. A Sangh official also confirmed that Mohan Bhagwat was found infected.
Just a day earlier, information was revealed about Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Congress leader and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy being infected with Corona. On Thursday, both the leaders were found positive in the investigation conducted for covid-19. Chief Minister P Vijayan administered the first dose of covid vaccine last month. It is said that Congress leader Oommen Chandy was not feeling well for the last two days.
In Maharashtra, more than 50 thousand new cases are being received every day for the last few days. In the last 24 hours in the country, Maharashtra had the highest number of 58,993 cases while 301 people died. With this, the number of corona infections in Maharashtra has gone up to 32,88,540 while the death toll from the epidemic has gone up to 57,329. In the last 24 hours, 6,489 new cases were reported in Nagpur while 64 people have died.
The rising pace of corona infection in Maharastra has drawn lines of concern. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that a full lockdown of two to three weeks is necessary to improve the health infrastructure in the state because of the increase in corona cases. However, he also said that such a step can be taken when the state government is unable to deal with the situation.
